Annual Sculpture Plein Air

The plein-air events of Rayuvtsi Sculpture Academy turn the village into an open-air studio. Sculptors, stone carvers and students work side by side in the quiet of the Elena Balkan – each on their own stone, yet in a shared creative dialogue. Here experience is exchanged, new ideas are born and works are created that enrich the character of the region.

How a Plein Air Unfolds

1. Idea. Participants discuss and choose the idea for their work.
2. Work on site. Step by step the idea becomes a sculpture – outdoors, surrounded by nature and in full view of the village's visitors.
3. Presentation. The plein air ends with a presentation of the finished works.

Who Can Take Part

The plein-air events are intended for sculptors and stone carvers, fine-arts students and artists with experience in working stone. If you would like to take part or support the event, please get in touch.
